Auf der Blizzcon 2011 wurde angekündigt, das Spieler welche ein Jahres-Abo von World of Warcraft abschließen bekommen Diablo 3 gratis. Es werden nun alle Spieler/Eltern verständigt, welche die "Elternkontrolle" aktiviert haben und einen Jahrespass abschließen. Da diese Spieler Diablo 3 erhalten und dieses erst ab FSK 16 freigegeben ist.
